About Ranky

The story behind the platform — and why we think finding a good contractor shouldn't require a leap of faith.

Why we started Ranky

We kept running into the same problem — and so has everyone we’ve talked to. You need a plumber, a mover, an electrician. You search online. You find someone with 4.8 stars. You hire them. And the work is terrible. The reviews were fake, or they were real but posted by a handful of happy customers while dozens of unhappy ones never said a word.

Online reviews are supposed to help you find good people. Instead, they’ve become a system that rewards whoever is best at gaming reviews — not whoever is best at the actual work.

We started asking a simple question: what if the platform collected every review itself? What if no one could self-submit a rating, buy a higher ranking, or cherry-pick which customers get asked? What if the only thing that determined your position was what your real customers actually said?

The idea isn’t complicated. The hard part has always been cost — proactively calling every customer and conducting a real quality interview is expensive at scale. But AI-assisted communication has changed that equation. For the first time, it’s possible to run a rigorous, proactive review system across a market as large as the United States without needing a thousand-person call center.

That’s what Ranky is. A platform where the rankings are built on verified customer feedback, collected by us — not submitted by strangers, not inflatable with fake reviews, and not for sale.

What we believe

Every homeowner deserves access to trustworthy service professionals. Hiring a plumber, electrician, mover, or contractor shouldn’t require guessing which reviews are real. It shouldn’t mean overpaying because you can’t tell quality providers from scammers. There should be a place where the rankings actually mean something.

Every great professional deserves to be found on merit. Skilled tradespeople who take pride in their work shouldn’t lose business to competitors who buy fake reviews and pay for premium placement. Quality should be the thing that gets you customers — not your marketing budget.

Ranky exists to make both of these things true.

Where we are right now

We’re going to be honest with you: Ranky is early. We’re currently launching in Austin, Texas, personally recruiting our first providers, and building our initial body of verified reviews.

We think being transparent about this is important. Every platform started somewhere. What matters isn’t whether we have ten thousand listings today — it’s whether the principles are right from the beginning.

Our methodology is established. Our economics are set. Our commitment to verified, merit-based rankings is baked into the product from day one — not something we’ll promise to add later.

If you’re a provider who takes pride in your work, we’d love to have you join us early. If you’re a customer who cares about honest reviews, here’s how you can help.
