Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 2026
Ranky (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is committed to protecting the privacy of everyone who interacts with our platform — both service providers and their customers. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what control you have over it.
We’ve written this in plain language on purpose. If something isn’t clear, email us at hello@heyranky.com and we’ll explain.
What we collect from customers
When we contact you to collect a review about a service provider, we may collect:
Your name and phone number — provided to us by the service provider as part of their job records. We use this only to reach out for the review.
Your review — your responses to our structured quality interview about the provider’s work, professionalism, timeliness, and pricing.
Your attribution preference — whether you’d like your review published with your first name and city, or anonymously.
What we collect from service providers
When you apply to or are listed on Ranky:
Business information — your business name, trade or service category, and service area.
Contact details — your name, phone number, and email address.
Job records — invoices, booking confirmations, or other documentation of recent work, including customer contact information. These are used for our vetting and review process.
Quality score data — the aggregated results of verified customer reviews collected through our process.
How we use your data
We use the information we collect to operate Ranky’s core service: collecting verified reviews, calculating provider quality scores, and maintaining merit-based rankings. Specifically:
- To contact customers for structured quality interviews
- To calculate and publish provider scores and rankings
- To communicate with providers about their listing, scores, and platform updates
- To improve our review methodology using aggregated, anonymized data
We do not sell personal data. We do not use customer contact information for marketing. Your data is used for the review process and nothing else.
Review attribution
When a customer review appears on Ranky, it is attributed in one of two ways, based on the customer’s preference:
With consent — first name and city (e.g., “Sarah, Austin”) Without consent or by request — “Verified Customer”
Both versions contribute equally to the provider’s quality score.
Data storage and protection
We store all data using industry-standard security practices, including encryption in transit and at rest. Access to personal data is limited to team members who need it to operate the platform.
Your rights
Opt out of contact — Customers can request at any time not to be contacted again.
Update your review — Contact us to update or amend your feedback.
Delete your data — Request deletion of your personal data by emailing hello@heyranky.com.
Access your data — Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
Cookies and analytics
Ranky uses Plausible Analytics for privacy-friendly, cookie-free page view tracking. We do not use tracking cookies. No personal data is collected through our analytics.
California residents (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to request its deletion, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information.
Ranky does not sell personal information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated to affected users via email or a notice on our website.
